As I make final preparations for the trip to Nicaragua with four amazing GLOBE Fellows, I have taken time to read about the various sites we will be visiting -- all philanthropic, many directly associated with the microfinance industry, and without exception, inspirational. I read about young people changing the course of their lives to make a difference in a country far away from what they have always known as home. I read about need such as we can barely imagine in our lives so replete with bounty. And so the two meet --- the need and the compassion -- to forge a partnership that brings sustainable development through education, microloans, health care and employment to so many beautiful souls. I cannot wait to meet everyone involved in these efforts and to understand how we, in GLOBE, might also make a small difference in this country that we are about to learn something about over the next week. I am so thrilled to be traveling to Nicaragua, and so grateful to Dave Grossman who has made our journey possible, and to Dean Shoaf for providing the funds necessary to continue the GLOBE Student Fellows program.
See you in Managua!
